Chief
The Fire Chief shall have served in the fire service for no less than ten (10) years. He/She must have served as an officer with the Chapmanville Volunteer Fire Department for no less that five (5) years prior to being appointed as Fire Chief. The Chief shall have superior knowledge of firefighting principles and procedures, incident command functions, operation of the departmental apparatus, and safety aspects of the position that they occupy. The Fire Chief will serve as the head of the department in all aspects. The Fire Chief shall maintain ongoing personal training throughout his/her tenure and shall strive to meet or exceed the requirements of firefighter and fire officer as set forth by the West Virginia State Fire Commission and any other governing body being local, state, or federal.
Deputy Chief
The Deputy and Assistant Fire Chief shall have served as a member of the fire service for no less that eight (8) years. He/She must have served as an officer with the Chapmanville Volunteer Fire Department for no less that five (5) years prior to being appointed as Deputy or Assistant Fire Chief. The Deputy and Assistant Chief shall have a superior knowledge of firefighting principles and procedures, incident command functions, operation of the departmental apparatus, and safety aspects of the position that they occupy. The Deputy Chief will be the Chief of Operations of the department and the Assistant Chief will carry out duties as assigned by the Fire Chief. The Deputy and Assistant Chief shall maintain ongoing personal training throughout his/her tenure and shall strive to meet or exceed the requirements of firefighter and fire officer as set forth by the West Virginia State Fire Commission and any other governing body being local, state, or federal.
Captain
The Captains shall have served as a member of the fire service for no less that five (5) years. He/She must have served as an officer with the Chapmanville Volunteer Fire Department for no less that one (1) year prior to being appointed as Captain. The Captains shall have a superior knowledge of firefighting principles and procedures, incident command functions, operation of the departmental apparatus, and safety aspects of the position that they occupy. The Captains shall maintain ongoing personal training throughout his/her tenure and shall strive to meet or exceed the requirements of firefighter and fire officer as set forth by the West Virginia State Fire Commission and any other governing body being local, state, or federal.
Lieutenant
The Lieutenants shall have served as a member of the fire service for no less than three (3) years. He/She must have reached the age of twenty-one (21). The Lieutenants shall have basic knowledge of firefighting principles and procedures, incident command functions, operation of the departmental apparatus, and safety aspects of the position that they occupy. The Lieutenants shall maintain ongoing personal training throughout his/her tenure and shall strive to meet or exceed the requirements of firefighter and fire officer as set forth by the West Virginia State Fire Commission and any other governing body being local, state, or federal.
